Shivneri Fort is located near Junnar in the Pune district, approximately 100 kilometers from Pune. The fort is situated at an elevation of 1,034 meters above sea level and is renowned as the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire. The fort offers panoramic views of the surrounding region and is an important historical site.

Accessing Shivneri Fort

Shivneri Fort is accessible by road from Pune, with a well-maintained path leading to the fort. Visitors need to climb a series of steps to reach the fort, which makes the trek moderately challenging. The fort is also a popular destination for history enthusiasts and trekkers.

 

Visiting Hours

The fort is open to visitors from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The best time to visit is during the winter months (November to February) or during the monsoon season for a more pleasant trekking experience.
